K-1 Visa holder and the K-2 Visa

What is a K-1 Visa?

The K-1 Visa or US fiancee visa is a non-immigrant visa which is issued to the fiancee of a US citizen for the purposes of bringing her to the United States for the sole purpose of marriage. The K-1 Visa is limited in time however provides more than enough time to get married.

The K-1 Visa is issued for a period of 3 months only and it cannot be extended. The petition for the K-1 visa is falls away as soon as the person dies or withdraws from the peition. The K-1 Visa petition starts with a Petition for Alien Fiancee (Form I-129F) which is filled at any of the USCIS centers. The center where you submit to is determined where you live. The K-1 Visa petition has to be mailed and cannot be handed in.
